If you're craving a day of quiet, reflection and time in nature – this is your invitation.

Not another workshop where you sit in a room and take notes.

This is a day to slow down, step outside and reconnect with the part of you that already knows what's next.

Set in the beautiful surroundings of the NY/NJ Trail Conference headquarters – with its welcoming indoor gathering space, an open-air deck and nearby trails – this is a rare opportunity to spend a full day in intentional community with nature as your guide.

What the Day Looks Like

You'll move through the day gently and with purpose – indoors and out – with time for both shared experience and quiet solitude.

Morning | Gather & Ground
We'll open the day together in the Trail Conference's warm indoor space. You'll be welcomed, oriented and guided through a powerful Future Self Visualization, a practice drawn from the work of
Walking with the Sage, to help you reconnect with who you're becoming.

Mid-Morning | Go Within
With your visualization fresh, you'll move into guided journaling using your included booklet or your own journal to capture what surfaced and begin to articulate what matters most to you right now.

Midday | Walk with Your Question
We'll have lunch and head out onto the trail for an intentional walk, with time to be alone with your thoughts, your surroundings and the quiet wisdom that tends to emerge when we stop rushing and start listening.

Afternoon | Gathering
We'll reconvene on the deck or indoors to share, reflect and translate the day's insights into a choiceless next step – a simple, meaningful action you can take in the days ahead.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I bring?
Water, your own lunch, snacks, bug spray, sun protection, a small daypack for the trail and a journal if you have one – and a sense of adventure.

What should I wear?
Dress in layers. Mornings in May can be cool. Hiking boots or sturdy trail shoes are strongly recommended. The trail includes some slight elevation changes, roots and rocks.

How strenuous is the hike?
The walk is moderate, accessible to most fitness levels but not entirely flat. There will be some elevation change and uneven terrain. We move at a gentle, intentional pace. You should feel comfortable walking between 2-3 miles.

What if the weather is bad?
You will be notified in advance of any changes or adjustments due to weather. We'll always have our indoor space and deck as a fallback.

Is this a fitness event?
Not at all. The walk is intentional and unhurried. It's about reflection, not mileage.

Is this workshop based on the bookWalking with the Sage?
The future self visualization and the Sage Walk framework are drawn from the practices in the book, but you don't need to have read it to fully participate. That said, it makes a wonderful companion for the day.

Who is this for?
Anyone craving a day of quiet, reflection and time in nature. No experience with visualization, journaling or hiking necessary – just an openness to the experience.

"The trail has a way of showing us what we already know."
