A New Twist on Vision Boards
The new year will be upon us soon and I love to get a head start on riding the momentum of its blank slate. What better way to connect with our deepest desires than by creating a free form collage of things that zing the right side of the brain? While I love the tangible quality of old-school magazine cut-outs, I like the expansiveness (and sometimes overwhelm) of digitally available images.
Pinterest is a step in a modernized direction, with access to millions of images and media sharing. Along with the ease of use is convenience and accessibility. But I wanted something more immediate and tangible in my space.
I decided to try using a digital picture frame, one that is equipped with blue tooth and internet connectivity. I spent a few hours gathering pictures from my own library as well as inspiring quotes and images from the web. I easily uploaded dozens that really lit me up. The overall theme relates to a big life change I’m anticipating in 2019 and I found the mix of personal photos, sayings and dream images inspiring.
Most of all, I was thrilled with the frame’s programming ability. It’s been said that where attention goes, energy flows. I set the timer to begin 15 minutes before I wake so the scrolling images are the first thing I see in the morning. It really sets the tone for the day and keeps me focused on the big picture.
Here’s how you can set up your electronic vision board:
Decide on a frame that’s right for you (I chose Photospring)
Collect images with a focus on how they make you feel - Creating a sacred space that evokes good feelings will create a mindset that will help bring what you desire to life. It can be broad (relationships, professional, home, health, travel, etc.) or more specific (starting a business, writing a book, etc.)
Upload your content - Program the frame so the images continuously shuffle and that it will be running when you wake. As you watch it run through the first time, focus on how it makes you feel. In the expansiveness of possibility, take a moment to feel a sense of gratitude for what brought you to this point while feeling the magic of what’s on the horizon.
Make it a daily practice - Enjoy the feeling to waking to the images of the life of your dreams. The repetitiveness of the images and related feelings are what makes this process so powerful. It sets the tone for the entire day.
Keep it fresh - As you come across new images or quotes, upload to your board. My frame works with an app that makes this process seamless and reflects the dynamic arc of life.
